Is it fair?

Throughout our study of the Old Testament so far, we have noticed that God's handling of people during this time is very different from the way we see him in our lives today. In 1 Samuel 15 we read the story of Saul losing his kingdom because he failed to carry out the orders God gave to him. Is it fair that God took Saul's kingdom away from him for disobeying, and our punishment for disobeying is much less? Feel free to explain the answers you come up with.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Yes, it was fair, because Saul was king only because God made him king, and because God had given him that special privilage, God expected Saul to obey what He commanded. Luke 12:48 says "For everyone to whom much has been given, from him much will be required." Saul was specifically instructed to destroy EVERYTHING, yet he kept some of the best things for his sacrifices. He always would rethink what God had told him. I think that our punishment is much less because we are not in such a high power, and if we have accepted Jesus into our lives and we disobey, its not such a big deal because we can just as forgiveness and still go to heaven.
I don't know- this is kinda confusing.
